Chani Bockwinkel is a performer and filmmaker. Bringing her midwestern sensibilities, she makes interdisciplinary-collaborative-feminist imagery for the stage, gallery, and internet. She is interested in the body, non linear history, and the grand tradition of camp. She also teaches an internationally roving queer feminist dance class SAPPHO and SWEAT

Her work has recently shown at Artists in Presidents, Hudson Gallery, BAMPFA, SOMArts, Acre TV, BRIC NYC, ODC Theatre, SF Dance Film Festival, Dock 11/Berlin and Aggregate Space Gallery. Collaborations are integral to her work, recent collaborators include Yoshiko Chuma, Effie Bowen, Indira Allegra, Keith Hennessey, Brontez Purnell, Sophia Wang, Tyler Burdenski, Mara Poliak, Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo, Leila Weefur, Jose Abad and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

She is also a founding member of SALTA, a feminist dance collective. Since its conception in 2012,: SALTA has curated over 30 events at venues such as somAarts, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Berkeley Art Museum, and AUNTS. SALTA also holds a Goldie Award.

Chani holds  B.A. in Performance and Media Production from Hampshire College.
